Faithful Parenting
Read Time: 3 minutes
Assalamualaikum,
Welcome to another edition of 'Cup of Parenting', where we juggle kids, faith, and everything in betweenâusually with a cup of tea in hand (or maybe cold by now, because #mumlife, right?). Whether you're a new mum, a seasoned pro, or somewhere in between, we've got your back with tips, laughs, and a little bit of wisdom sprinkled in.
This week, letâs talk about making life as a Muslim mum just a little easierâbecause letâs face it, life is already hard enough when you're trying to get your kid to eat anything that isn't beige. So here are three simple, actionable steps to help you with parenting and your Islamic lifestyle.
---
1. Make Du'a Your Superpower
You know how you can sometimes feel like you're failing as a mum? Yeah, weâve all been there. But hereâs a little reminder: Duâa (supplication) is your secret weapon. When the kids are bouncing off the walls or you're just running on fumes, pause for a moment and make a quick duâa. Itâs like sending a divine SOS. Teach your kids to do it too, even for the little things, like finding lost toys. You'll be surprised how much peace it brings into your day!
Action Step:Take 2 minutes tonight before bed to make duâa with your kids. Let them ask for something on their heart. Even if itâs "more ice cream tomorrow," itâs a start!
---
2. Turn Chores Into Sadaqah
Doing laundry, cleaning up, making dinner... itâs never-ending! But did you know that when youâre doing it with the right intention, even cleaning up spaghetti from the wall can be considered an act of worship? Yep, thatâs right! When you're serving your family, youâre serving Allah. So next time youâre knee-deep in mess, remind yourself (and your kids!) that these little things count.
Action Step: Next time you're doing a boring chore, say "Bismillah" before you start and mentally dedicate it as an act of sadaqah. Bonus: Get the kids involved with their own âminiâ chores!
---
3. Schedule "Me Time" (It's Sunnah, I Promise!)
Believe it or not, self-care is actually part of Islam. Our beloved Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) encouraged balance in life, and that includes taking care of your own mental and physical health. Youâre no good to anyone if youâre running on empty. So, whether itâs sneaking in 10 minutes for some quiet dhikr (remembrance of Allah), a walk, or just a hot shower (without an audience!), make time for yourself.
Action Step: Block out at least 15 minutes tomorrow to do something just for you. Even if itâs hiding in the pantry with a chocolate bar. Your secretâs safe with us.

And there you have itâ3 little steps to help you nurture your faith and your family life without feeling like youâre drowning in the deep end. Youâve got this, Super Mum! đŞ
