HEY, I'M AISHA

the founder and dreamer behind Cup Of Parenting, on a mission to help mums navigate the challenges of parenting.

Homeschool life

My story really began after the difficulties we all faced during the lockdown.

With a new baby at home and eldest going through the challenging teen years, parenting was tough! This was when I decided to train in Positive Discipline parenting and The Incredible Years parent training. This made a huge impact on our family life, thus I decided to help other parents through coaching.

PASSIONATE ABOUT HELPING OTHERS

I've always been interested in child development and especially communication with children. This stems from my first two degrees in Psychology and Developmental Psychopathology; I was fortunate to study these at red brick universities. I then qualified as a Speech and Language Therapist, supporting children with their speech, language and communication needs in the NHS and privately. I have recently completed The Common Purpose leadership programme, enabling me to really work on my vision in supporting parents in the community and elsewhere on a wider scale.

I knew that supporting families had to be a holistic approach.

This is why I already started working in my local community of Newcastle Upon Tyne over 11 years ago. We started small classes in the Mosque and this grew to family-friendly activities on a much larger scale. Activities are targeted towards both parents and children respectively, as well as plenty of joints events including arts & cultural activities to widen everyone's experiences and to make memories!

Some events I have had the privilege to be a part of...

  • Appearances on the radio station Newcastle Fast FM in the month of Ramadan.
  • BBC Newcastle Radio interview to discuss Hajj.
  • My Sisters' Study Circle was also mentioned in the British parliament by the MP Chi Onwurah after she made several visits to my class.
  • I have been a proud part of the Royal College of Speech and Language Therapists' 'Build Back Better' campaign.
  • We have recently been interviewed by the local ITV News about the return to our usual Eid activities after the pandemic.
  • 'Mental Health & the COVID 19 Pandemic', organised by the Sanabel Club at Qatar University.
  • 'Examinations Fear, Stress & Coping Mechanisms' organised by Aspire College of Excellence, India.
  • Regular weekly talks delivered to Townsville Mosque Society, Australia.
  • TV Programme about women and children from different cultures for Trans7 Channel, Indonesia.
